Add these numbers throughout the years and you will be a millionaire within a few years. However, acquiring a college degree, especially an online degree is not easy. Is a long and tedious process that only a few people have the discipline to finish. Online courses are based on participation, answering discussion questions, working in small teams and individual reports. The more you study the course readings the better your reports would be. Online schooling is based mostly on your writings and team work; most importantly online “exams” are not prevalent. For many students this is a great opportunity, especially for those who have test anxiety and perform badly on written exams.

Obviously this is the most significant component in attending school. Study everything pertaining to your degree and master the subject as you master your life.

T-Time

As in everything in life you must have the time and patience to finish what you started. You must have the time to work on your computer skills and become very familiar with programs such as Microsoft PowerPoint and Microsoft Word. Online courses usually begin on a Tuesday and end on Monday night. Online courses usually begin as soon as you are ready. There are literally thousands of online schools throughout the nation- Make sure the online school you are interest in is accredited through The Department of Education.

U-Understanding

If you do not understand the topic or the class work- feel free to use the internet or the school library; the school library is open 24 hours a day 7 days a week. Understand and follow the course syllabus at all cost. In college the syllabus is the law.

D-Degree which one?

Be absolutely careful when you prepare and plan for your degree. Many students fall prey to changing “their minds” during the program. The time and money spent these on changes will set you back a few months -sometimes even years! Be certain that you have “thought out” the whole process before you make the phone call to your local online school.

Y-Yes Attitude

YES- You must log in everyday to post a response or a question to show the professor that you are serious about your education. YES- you must be as organized as you can and because online schools provide the work throughout the weeks you can always begin you course work early. YES- you can do this; have a picture of your favorite car, a special place or something that you can focus on to keep you going. YES-it is going to be tough and chances are you will reach “burnout”-just be prepared.

Make sure the online school you are interest in is accredited through The Department of Education.

Figuringout how much time is needed to complete each of these tasks is an important part of time management for online college students.

After the amount of time needed is determined it is important to figure out when you have time available. Consider your day-to-day activities and write down the time you are free to complete online college work. Create a schedule that allows you to fulfill your required assignments during your free time. For example if you must read for 3 hours a week, write a paper for 3 hours, and answer questions for an hour you will need to find 7 hours a week to fit these assignments in.

Online colleges bring the admissions department to your doorstep, letting you get your paperwork arranged without setting food on campus. Here's what you need to do to get into one of these colleges:

1. Make a to-do list

Check the college's admissions page and see what paperwork you will need to submit and when. In most cases this will be straight forward, but some degrees may require letters of recommendation or physicals.

2. Send in an application

This will require some common personal information on hand like your address and date of birth as well as your academic history and planned course of study. If you need to include an essay, write it beforehand and paste it from your word processor.

3. Start the scholarship and loan process

Begin by filling out the FAFSA form, the U.S. government's universal form for financial aid. Make sure to include the school code for the college you want to attend; if you have already filled out the FAFSA, you can go back onto your account and add a school code. It takes about two weeks for the school to receive your financial information once you've made this change.

4. Request transcripts and test scores

For previously credits to be applied to your current degree you will need to have official transcripts sent from the institutions you attended. This will almost always require that a written request be mailed to the college. Often getting proof of high school graduation will only require a phone call. If you earned concurrent credit by taking a college course through the high school you will still need a transcript sent from the participating college.

Many colleges will also require ACT or SAT scores. Like transcripts, these will need to be sent by the testing companies. If you have not taken one of these tests, you can sign up for a local test from their websites.

5. Talk to your advisors

Once the college has your financial and scholastic information you can start working out what you will need to take and how you will need to pay for it. They will help you arrange your education to meet your specific needs.

The slow economy has had a negative impact on small businesses, real estate, banking, and even college enrollment. Interestingly, the nation’s economic status has had a positive impact on enrollment in online education programs. This area of education has seen the highest increase in demand of all learning formats.

In 2009, online class enrollment was up 17% among students enrolled in on-campus colleges and universities. This means in 2009, more than 4.6 million students took online courses last year, which is a total of 25% of college students. Growth in higher education overall was only 1.2%.

The University of Phoenix reported enrollment of 165,373 students in 2006. This figure is more than triple the number of students enrolled in the top 20 largest degree-granting institutions. In addition to University of Phoenix, there are literally thousands of online campuses across the U.S. While there are many programs to choose from, not all online college programs have been accredited. So when searching for an online college program, you should check the status of each program before applying.

Online college programs that have been accredited by an agency recognized by the U.S. Department of Education have met a certain (high) academic standards In addition, accredited online programs are eligible to participate in federal financial aid programs. Online college program curriculums at accredited schools are not much different from on-campus college curriculums. If an online college program lacks a coherent curriculum, traditional admissions requirements, and accreditation, it is most likely not a quality program.

To locate accredited online programs, students may explore the offerings at traditional brick and mortar universities (check the online division) or you may search through comprehensive online directories such as Top Online Colleges. Popular search engines such as Bing, Ask, or Google may be useful as well. Each online college degree program will offer information on accreditation. To make sure the program’s accrediting agency is listed with the U.S. Department of Education.

Tip: Critics of online college programs argue that in an online environment, there just isn’t enough interaction with classmates or teachers. The opposite is true. In a traditional classroom setting, you can choose to sit in the back of the classroom and remain silent for most of the semester. In an online classroom environment the professor tracks your interaction or lack of. You must interact with classmates and the instructor on a daily basis, post meaningful and articulate responses, chat, and post critiques on a regular basis -- or your grade will suffer.

Colleges are very important to consider especially if you need something to fall back on. For example, I'm a mom of three girls so going back to college is great since it's something to be proud of. Being a busy stay at home mom only give us some options in life and the best way in most of the time is online especially if you have very young kids to take care of. Here are some ideas to consider when it comes to online colleges:

The schools have to be accredited which means that they did take the strict standard test proving that it's a legit school. If the school has been around for more than 5 years, it's a good sign. Schools open and closes all the time. For example, while I was pregnant with my second child, I went to an accredited school which I did enjoy seeing my teachers and classmates. I graduated and got my certification of "microcomputer applications" before she was born. Fast forward to late 2007. Got the papers stating that school is closing due to the owner filing bankruptcy. It's still going on where the owner of the school keeps pushing the court date further and further it seem. Despite that incident, it doesn't usually happen that way. But the thing was, this school was where I had to be at the campus and not done at home.

if you're working part time and/or full time, find the time where you know for sure that you would be able to do the schoolwork at home. It takes dedication, persistence, and patience to pass and at first, it should take at least 10-15 hours a week. I'm happy to say that I will be starting school on October 13, 2008 of online college course for "Business Management." This course will help me tremendously with my home based business after I pass. Do the orientation and participate each week and you should do fine.
If you're hoping to get some encouragement to go to school by doing it online, some people are not meant to take one which depends what kind of person you are. Do you and are you willing to invest each week for 10-15 hours to study and participate in your schoolwork at home and not get distractions when you really need to? This is only when you are starting out. Do you like to socialize online as well? If you do, then it's great where you would be able to do teamwork kind of work. It earns you lots of points for teamwork in order to pass for sure. Communicate with each other when you can no matter what the situation/problem may arise. Without any notification, you would be dropped out of school online and you're force to pay back what you applied for loans.

Get organize by doing all of the paperwork that was necessary like the financial area in order to help you fund for it where most of it is by student loans. Even with student loans, you would have to pay some out of pocket money.
