Why are people so scared/afraid of collection agency?

when there's only a limit of things they can do,
call you, send you letters, refer to to a lawyer, etc.
1. you can always just cancel your homephone and use cell phone
2. you can get the call screen..etc. services that phone company provide to stop them
3. write them each a letter to tell them to stop, they have to stop no matter how much you owe them.
4, if they do refer you to a law office, you can tell the law office that you pay them already just now. and then they will refer it back to the creditor or the collection agency and round the circle we go.
comparing to some asian countries where the credit cards companies will refer you to those black market collection people who will come to your door, lock your door up, paint red letters on your wall etc. American collection agency is nothing to be scared of.
I say, F.U.C.K. them, people should make them chase them for the rest of their life. hahah

they don't scare me...they annoy me....they are parasites, skimming money off of other people's commerce
