Hill Reading Science

My vet recommends Hills Science Plan CD for my cat..?

But I find it expensive and am not convinced it is the right food. He needs it vet says for preventing any crystals forming in his urine. I've found a Vital Cat food at Aldi Stores for a fraction of the prices but wonder if Hills is best or not? Have read a lot of unencouraging stuff about it

I'm sorry to hear about your kitty. You are right. Hills food is crap. But Aldi food is just as crappy if not worse. And Crystals can be deadly to a cat so this isn't somethign to mess around with.

My biggest piece of advice is do NOT listen to your vet about diet with your cat. They don’t know anything about proper feline nutrition. Most never learned anything except what the cat food companies teach them when they sell them thier food. *roll eyes here*Any vet that would tell you to put your sick cat on a garbage food like Science Diet, Royal Canin, or Purina prescription clearly knows NOTHING about cats nutritional needs.

Cats were never designed to eat dry food. NEVER. They eat their prey whole and wet. Cats do not have a thirst mechanism. So because of all that… cats are designed to eat only wet food.

We idiot humans feed dry only for our connivance. Shows how much we know huh?

So because of all the above, we, by feeding dry, are usually the cause of all UTI issues in cats. *Sigh* They do not take in enough water on a dry diet and so their systems do not fully flush out so they get UTI issues.

What you need to do is unconcentrate the urine. To do that you need to stop feeding all dry foods and switch to an all wet diet. Either a canned diet or Raw. Did your vet recommend that? Wet food will help flush the system faster so that crystals and bacteria can not form.

Get your kitty on a STRICKTLY wet food diet. Either high quality canned, or a raw diet. It’s not cheap but it will cost you less in the long run than the vet.

You can learn about raw food at www.catinfo.org and www.catnutrition.org Or Canned… choose Wellness, Merrick, Drs Foster and Smith or something with those matching ingredients.

No matter which you choose… no more dry food for your cat ever.

I’ve also had success using Glucosomine and Chrondriton for preventing inflammation in the urethra. Discuss this with your vet and ask them to look into it.

Give your kitty distilled water to drink only. Both my vet and I are convinced after speaking with vets all over the county that the hardness and mineral content in water in different areas contributes to the # of cases of UTI’s in those areas. From here on out… distilled water only.

Another suggestion… is to get kitty a water fountain. I bought the Bigdog Drinkwell for my cats and keep it filled with distilled water and they love it. It’s a great way to encourage their water consumption.

Lastly, get yourself a bag of scientific litter so you can keep track of kittys PH levels at home. You won’t be able to detect the crystals at home that cause blockages, but if the ph was off… you could get kitty in for a urine analysis right away and possibly head off a blockage.

Good luck!

Are you familiar with the book 'The Science of Getting Rich?' I just finished reading this book yet again, and I find myself almost haunted by the simplicity of its teachings. Yet, don't be fooled by the simplicity, the teachings in this book are very powerful and it literally provides the for attracting financial abundance into your life.

The Science of Getting Rich was originally published in 1910 and was written by Wallace Wattles. It's gained something of a rebirth in popularity over the past several years, particularly with the more recent popularity of the film The Secret. That's because Rhonda Byrne, creator of The Secret, cited Wattles' book as one of her principal influences in creating the film.

Wattles' book outlines the the process of creative visualization, which is one of the foundations upon which The Science of Getting Rich is based. It has gained strong popularity within the self help industry because, while he doesn't use the exact language, it is really all about harnessing law of attraction. More specifically, Wattles' book is an instruction manual that teaches you how to use the law of attraction.

In addition, his book precedes the far more popular classic Think And Grow Rich, which was written by Napoleon Hill. Upon reading the two books, one can't help but wonder to what degree if any, Wattles' work may have influenced Hill. There are commonalities between the two books that are unmistakeable.

For the true student of law of attraction and for anyone looking to understand the mechanics of the process of deliberate creation and creating a life of inspired abundance, The Science of Getting Rich is a very valuable read.

Much of the focus of the book is on how to develop the discipline of thought required to keep your attention and focus on what you want, incorporating creative visualization, regardless of your present circumstances. Wattles teaches that there is a certain way in which you must think and behave which enables the abundance and prosperity you desire to come to you. He also points out that developing the discipline of thought to do this consistently, is perhaps the most difficult work there is.

Wattles' book is so deceptively simple, it's easy to dismiss. Yet, upon closer review -- and appreciate this is at least the 4th time I've read his book -- it speaks volumes about the process of how to utilize creative thought and visualization in order to put the laws of the universe at work for you. It's truly a brilliant little book worth studying more deeply.
