Based on statistics from the U.S. Department of Education and other governmental agencies, autism is growing at a startling rate of 10-17 percent per year. At this rate, it is estimated that it's prevalence of could reach 4 million Americans in the next decade.
Autism can affect anybody regardless of race, ethnic, social boundaries, family income, lifestyle, or educational levels and can affect any family, and any child.

Does anyone have any ideas how I can raise autism awareness in my school?
I will be a senior in high school this fall. After high school i want to be a special education teacher and work with autistic kids. A lot of people in my school make fun of kids in the special education classes and I'm sick of it. I think it is mostly because they do not understand. I this problem can be solved and someone needs to do something, and start somewhere. Anyone have any ideas how i can raise autism awareness in my high school?
1. Start a Disabilities club in your school and invite interested people to join it. Some club topics that can be discussed is Autism Awareness, Disabilities Awareness, and Disability Etiquette. Invite various PWDs to speak at your club.
2. Pass out pamphlets that explains Autism.
